How to use the walking guides

A walk that has forts, high cols and small lakes is a great day out but has some steep sections to it.

Description:

From the parking walk through le Laus village and start to follow the road to the col d’Izoard, after a few hundred meters at the long left hand bend in the road (1774 height) double back on a footpath (not always easiest to see,) it goes north then turns west to the combe du Malazen. It climbs steeply up to a path where you can turn north and visit the fort la Lausette. From the fort retrace your steps and then continue south on the track to le Bosquet, here a t a bend in the track a path heads south and climbs again to the col des Peygus at 2612 M.

Descend the other side to a small lake, and then head east towards the chalets d’Izoard, before you arrive at the chalets you can head north to join a footpath in the Bois des Loubatieres at the height of 2222 M.  A path drops east to the Bois des Talias it descends very steeply until you meet the road. Cross the road and find a footpath (not always that easy) that takes you along the river back tole Laus and the parking.
