How to use the walking guides

A steep start leads to a great ridge walk, with views in to two big valleys

Description:

From the parking cross the stream this can be done on steeping stones or if not head back down the road a bit to join the track.  Follow the open track until it turns off east on a small track in the trees that starts to go up hill.  Follow this track up to the Crete (ridge); it climbs steadily until near the top, where it winds through rocks, switching sides of the Crete with stunning views. Follow the path up over a high point (a little scrambling) at the top there are some great viewing points but be careful of the drops.  Keep on the main path and it traverses the Crete and drops down in to a col.

In the col there are some paths that go off west, the first is the descent from the via Ferrata (add guide here) this is a very steep rocky descent) the next goes out to the end of the via ferrata. Ignore these and head more eastwards back up on to the ridge again, from here the path leads to the small hamlet of les Aujards with some very nice houses. From there head down to les Roberts this can be done on the wide forest road or there are thinner steeper paths that cut the corners of the road. From Les Roberts follow the road down to the parking for the via ferrata (big sign) it’s on a tight righthand bend the foot path goes straight, follow the path downhill,  Be aware that there is a path down to the hamlet of le plan if taken it’s a long climb back up. Continue until you meet the footpath where you just left the main track and from there head back to the parking.
