Description

How to use the ski touring guides:

A great line that you can see from Briancon. If you can get to the spring parking it is a short but fun day out, with various lines to ski.

In deep winter the road to the col de Granon is not cleared of snow, it is still possible to do this line but it can mean skinning up the road (650m height gain), better to wait until spring when they clear the road to the parking below the Grand Area. From the parking you can see the south couloir. I have called this line the south couloir ish as it was a low snow year and the main couloir was dry (red line on photo), so we did a couloir off the north ridge (green line on the photo). The navigation is straight forward and the grade of the lines are all the same so I am adding it as a rough line and you can explore options.

From the spring parking head north then west into a big bowl, from there climb on to the north heading ridge, there are a few options for this, on the GPX we went a long way up the bowl and then climbed a short couloir to access the ridge. From the ridge climb north up on to some big  south facing faces, keep climbing higher to the summit, which gives amazing views of the Cerces.

Descent

Here you have a few choices, you can ski down the big south face and pick up the south couloir back in to the big bowl. Or you can head back towards the ridge, once on the ridge there are a few shorter couloirs to take your pick from.
