How to use the ski touring guides

Description:

From the parking follow the path to the Clot de Prés and from there continue to les Chalets des Prés du Vallon. From these houses head in to the gros rif and to the right of the Le Rocher Rond Rock.

Once past the Rocher Rond the ground opens up a little and there is an obvious line leading west, climb this gully to the top where it opens out again.   There is an open slope on your left and trees on your right, head up the open slope but cut right into the trees as it steepens, as the trees thin out you come to a small col.  It is possible to turn north and go to the top of the Roche Motte but often it is poor snow and hard to access.

Descent:

From the col either ski down through the trees or traverse right to the open slope, then bear right to enter the gully you climbed.  At the bottom of the gully follow the gros rif (it can get tight in places). At around 1720M leave the gully/rif and turn east to join up with the road near les Chalets des Prés du Vallon.  From here in good snow you can pick a line back through the trees, in poor snow you can stay on the road, it’s flat in some places but easy and leads you back to Villar St. Pancrace, near the St Laurent Chapel, just before the chapel you can turn west and cut over some fields to the parking.
