Description

How to use the ski touring guides

A stunning line, easy to access and a shorter day but still gives a great ride.

Starting at the Névache parking (the road shuts here in winter), head out of the village west on the road/ski du fond track. Follow this for a short way to just passed St Benoit where there is a path leading off north to the Chalets du Vallon. Follow this path, it is steep and very often lacking in snow. It leads you up in to the higher valley, the valley sides widen out and you can see your line on the left. Cross the river and head towards it. Once you access the couloir climb it to the top, keep your eyes open near the top for the cool key hole in the rock wall.

Descent

Ski down the the same line. The couloir is a great ski with one small patch of 40 but mainly around 35 degrees. Once out of the couloir the aspect changes to more south west. Ski back down the summer path and then descend to the valley floor.  Take care if the snow is thin as its very rocky and a fall would not be nice, some times its better to take the skis off and walk.
